Year of the Horse youth cultural festival
About the Festival

A Cross-Cultural Journey of Heritage and Innovation

For thousands of years, horses have been loyal companions to humankind, closely connected with daily life in both agrarian and nomadic cultures. They have played vital roles in agriculture, transportation, warfare, and communication, and have appeared in literature, painting, and sculpture as noble cultural symbols.

In traditional Chinese culture, the horse represents vitality, speed, strength, beauty, loyalty, righteousness, and optimism. Expressions such as the spirit of the dragon horse, instant success, taking the lead, thousands of horses galloping, and meritorious service reflect Chinese values and aesthetic ideals.

2026 is the Year of the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar. With this theme, the festival invites youth, families, elders, and artistic mentors to create and learn together across generations.

The festival includes eight artistic workshops, three major exhibitions, and the annual Youth Zodiac Painting Competition. Participants will explore traditional Chinese arts while also sharing digital and AI-based creative skills with older generations.
