Judging will begin on Monday. The Awards Ceremony on January 31 from 12:00 to 17:00 will invite all participants to attend. We also welcome everyone who loves Chinese culture to come and enjoy these outstanding artworks rooted in Chinese cultural themes. We hope this event will become a joyful Spring Festival celebration for Ottawa's art community!

About the Painting Competition
2026 is the Year of the Horse in the Chinese lunar calendar. In Chinese culture, the horse symbolizes strength, freedom, and hope. The 3rd Chinese Zodiac Painting Competition invites young artists to pick up their brushes and portray their own horses and dreams, letting inspiration gallop through color and growth shine through creativity.
We believe this competition is not only about winning, but about exploration; not only about awards, but about love for art.

- Registration method: register online or through your Chinese school and pay the $20 registration fee

Artwork Authorization
Participants grant the Canadian-Chinese Cross Culture Club authorization to display, use, promote, publish, design, and produce materials based on submitted artworks. Participants guarantee that their entries are original works. Participants agree to the artwork requirements and competition rules. The organizing committee reserves the final right of interpretation for this competition.

Colorful fireworks light up the sky, and a beautiful golden snake coils beneath them, bringing auspicious energy. The snake has lovely golden-red scales. Beside it is a market street filled with happy people and delicious foods: juicy kumquats, sweet candied hawthorns, soft glutinous rice balls, flowers, gold ingots, lanterns, and red envelopes. Friends and family wear beautiful traditional clothing, laughing and talking in a lively scene of prosperity.

The realistic style gives the image strong visual impact. The use of color is excellent, with clear warm-cool contrast and an almost perfect composition.
